I pledged and donated to the previous campaign. What happened to my donation?

Just under $800,000 was raised in the 2016 campaign for the Father G. Gallos Education Building. Interest Income of $10,000 has been earned and added to the Fund. Of that total, $111,000 has been invested in the Education Building Doors Project, the Priest Office Rehab, and professional engineering and consulting fees for the Education Building. The campaign also incurred $9,000 in administrative expenses. The balance of $691,000 is being carried forward into the OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER Capital Campaign and will be dedicated to the modernization of the Education Building, to honor General Assembly resolutions and donor intent.

Is the OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER campaign a continuation of the last campaign? How is it different?

The OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER Capital Campaign is a new campaign that incorporates the funds raised from the prior campaign. However, the current campaign has a more comprehensive vision based on a General Assembly vote in November 2023, which increased the scope and funding requirements.

Will my donation to the 2016 campaign be recognized in the current campaign?

Yes. All 2016 campaign donations will be recognized as the initial foundation of generosity that we will build on, and will be aggregated with, a donor’s gift to the new OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER Capital Campaign.

Who is involved with the OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER Capital Campaign?

The plan is guided and supported by Father George, the Executive Committee, the Parish Council, the Campaign Chairs, Campaign Committee members, and Greater Mission, an outside consultant that brings experience in leading successful church capital campaigns.

What is the OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER Campaign’s total fundraising goal?

The OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER Capital Campaign has a goal of $10 million: $6 million for the Education Building (Priority 1), $3 million for the Preston Street Pavilion (Priority 2), and $1 million for the Cathedral Endowment (Priority 3). See the Case for Support tab for further details.

Will the contemplated capital improvements be phased?

Yes, the foundational project in this campaign is the comprehensive renovation of the AOC, which is substantially complete. The next priority will be the critically-needed modernization of the Education Building.

How much money is needed to begin the Education Building project?

As noted above, the estimated cost for the modernization of the Education Building is $6 million. We will need to secure that total amount in a combination of gifts, pledges made, and grant commitments. Pledges will be accepted over multi-year periods of up to 5 years. Father George and the Parish Council are in the early stages of considering bridge loan financing based on the eventual fulfillment of actual committed pledges to enable us to start and complete the project in a timely way. Such financing would also be subject to the approval requirements in the Uniform Parish Regulations.

How long will the Education Building project take to complete?

Urban Design Group has been retained and is working diligently to prepare design drawings, coordinating with a task force comprised of representatives from the Executive Committee, the Building and Maintenance Committee, and Baird & Associates (the Cathedral’s Owner’s representative). This website contains preliminary renderings of the Social Hall currently under consideration.

Our hope is to begin the Education Building modernization in the fall of 2025. However, the timing for commencement and completion of all projects will be dependent on: (i) the renewed generosity of our entire community and the achievement of our fundraising goals, and (ii) the approval of Father George and the Parish Council.

The Education Building project is expected to take about 12 months to complete once it starts. During that time, any displaced ministries will be able to utilize the recently-renovated AOC.

Where do we stand now with all contributions and pledges?

With the carried-forward contributions from the previous campaign, legacy gifts, and new pledges received toward the OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER campaign, we have raised a total of $2.5 million so far toward the Education Building’s campaign goal of $6 million (and $10 million overall goal).

How can I follow the progress of the OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER Campaign and related projects?

Reports will be provided by the Capital Campaign Committee to the Parish Council. In addition, this dedicated website will be continuously updated on the progress of fundraising efforts so that our community will be informed on progress.

How can I contribute to the OLI MAZI/ALL TOGETHER campaign?

There will be a number of ways to fulfill a pledge to the new campaign, including but not limited to personal check, on-line giving, gifts of appreciated securities, or distributions from IRAs. A series of campaign activities are being planned for early 2025 that will provide additional details.
